Lunch & Learn -- topic: Pathways to Ending Mental Health Oppression

This session will focus on creating pathways to end mental health oppression. Participants will be given a brief introduction to the topic, then work through in a group to deconstruct three unique scenarios of mental health oppression. The goal will be to give each participant an opportunity to identify personal triggers around mental health, understand both the stigma and self-stigma concept of mental health, and engage in a dialogue on using a “community of care” ethic that compels change, in regards to mental health oppression.

This lunch and learn session is open to the public at the OSU Women's Center; noon-1:30pm; seating is limited. No pre-registration is required. Requests for accommodations related to disability may be requested by contacting jodi.nelson@oregonstate.edu or calling 541-737-0715 no later than October 14. Facilitated by Amy Thomson and Michael Henthorne.

Lunch & Learn Forum:  Un-Packing Christian Privilege

The idea of Christian Privilege is not a new one, resulting as it does from the dominant or normalizing influence of Christianity in our North American culture.  Yet there is an emerging complexity to understanding the relationship between experiences of privilege and oppression – particularly in university contexts.  Join us as we seek to uncover and understand privilege,  oppression, and attendant ambiguities.  Led and facilitated by Tim Stover and Clare Cady.

Requests for accommodations related to disability may be requested by contacting jodi.nelson@oregonstate.edu or calling 541.737.0715 one week prior to event. No registration required, lunches welcome; noon-1:30pm, MU 206.
